Abhinav Suri

Mentor: Dr. Tim Duong

St. Mary’s Hall
Suri participates in the Shadow Society and volunteers at the local food bank. He is the website designer for his school’s robotics team and has served as captain intermediate of the Latin Certamen Team. He is also a member of the Science Bowl Team and competes in the speech and debate program.

Angelica Fernandez

MacArthur High School
Angelica has received the President’s Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence and is president of the NJHS. She has participated in PREP, been identified in the Duke University Talent Search for her SAT scores and received the MVP award in basketball and track.

Blanca Hernandez Uribe

Mentor: Dr. Borries Demeler

Alamo Heights High School
Blanca is a member of the Spanish club, competes in cross country and volunteers as a peer tutor at Christ Episcopal and St. Luke’s Churches.

 

 

Blanca recently won 1st grand prize in team physics at the Alamo Regional Academy of Science and Engineering competition held at St. Mary’s University. Her mentor, Dr. Demeler, is delighted to know that Blanca will be advancing to compete at the state science competition. We are pleased to announce that Blanca was awarded an all-expense paid trip to L.A. to compete in the Intel international Science Fair in May! Blanca will be graduating from the Voelcker Academy this summer.

Christine is the Vice President of the HOSA. She is a member of the 2020 Generation Club, volunteers with the Low Vision Club and sings in the advanced choir.

Christopher Herrera

Kipp Academy
Christopher is a programmer on his high school robotics team and has excelled academically. He hopes to pursue a career in microbiology and has an interest in the mechanisms of action of infectious diseases.

Jeffrey was an active participant in the NJHS, student council, academic UIL, school newspaper, Spanish club and Junior PALS. He currently is a STEM Ambassador and a member of the Friends of the San Antonio Public Library.

Jessica Anthony

Young Women’s Leadership Academy
Jessica is a member of the NJHS and the Student Council. She has also been a participant of the PREP, the Diabetes Expo, Rock N Roll Marathon and an active volunteer at city and school health fairs.
Jessica was awarded second place in the 2014 Alamo Regional Science and Engineering Fair. In the Senior Division for Biochemistry, Jessica received best in category.

Jocelyn Hernandez Vasquez

Robert E. Lee High School, STEM Academy
Jocelyn is a member of the STEM Ambassadors, NJHS and the French, speech and debate clubs. She has also participated in MUNSA, ARASE Science Fairs, academic UIL and life Teen program at her church.

Johanna Lawrence

Johanna is a member of the marching band, the Latin club and her church youth group. She is top 10% of her class, a member of the NJHS and the founder of the Anti-Bullying Group at her school. She participates in fencing, UIL academic competitions and is a tutor for the Montessori Model UN.

Joshua is an Eagle Scout, a member of the UIL Team, Interact Volunteering Club and the Young Men’s Service league. He enjoys reading the classics and playing tennis and is a member of the varsity team.

Maria is a participant of the Model United Nat’1ons and a competitor in local and national fencing. Her interest is in neurobiology, investigating the effect of drugs and their treatment in mental disorders.

Morganne is the vice president of the freshman class, a participant of science UIL and debate club and volunteers as a math tutor and in the church youth group. She has also held positions of leadership in the Spanish Honor Society and Spanish club.

Incarnate Word High School
Natalia serves as a peer tutor and volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, works with Alzheimer patients and volunteers at the Sunshine Cottage. She has served as a member of the student council, the NHJS, the National leadership Council and the AAAA Swim Team.

Paige is the chairperson of the lady of Grace Youth Group, has served as a member of the Model United Nations, is a classical ballet dancer and recipient of the Girl Scout Silver Award.

Rachel is a member of the JV Volleyball Team, the yearbook club, drama club and Avanti Club. She is also a member of the NJHS.

Rebecca Dawes

Homeschool
Rebecca is a member of the National Homeschool Honor Society, co-founder and vice president of the Congressional Award Club and participant of the track and cross country field teams. She also volunteers at University Hospital and Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries.

Samantha is a member of the Young Oblates and the Mustard Seed Organization. She is also a member of the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society. She is an athlete and participates in volleyball, soccer, track and basketball

Sergio Arambula

Luther Burbank High School
Sergio, president of the marching band, won a place on district-wide and region-wide honor bands, the wind ensemble and scholastic math team. He has also been selected to be part of the Burbank International Baccalaureate Program.
Sergio was awarded the Gates Millennium Scholarship.
