Adiponectin is a hormone secreted from fat tissue and plays an important role in glucose metabolism. Adiponectin exists in 3 main forms in fat tissue and bloodstream:A low-molecular-mass (LMM), a hexamer (MMW), a high-molecular mass (HMM). The plasma HMM form of adiponectin is decreased in type 2 diabetic patents. DsbA-L is a protein that interacts with adiponectin and regulates adiponectin HMM formation. DsbA-L is found in adipose tissue and its expression is negatively correlated with obesity in mice and humans.
